With streaming services, the total time spent watching the service is a big indicator of how likely someone is to continue paying for the service in the future. Delta Air Lines has updated its Fly Delta iPad app to allow passengers to stream movies and TV shows from the onboard wifi network. Using wifi to stream movies to iPads was first trialled back in 2011 by Qantas, followed by Hawaiian Airlines almost a year ago and introduced as a standard service by United back in May. The Delta Studio service provides all streaming content free of charge to international, First Class and Economy Comfort passengers, while domestic Economy customers get some content free with ‘premium content’ being chargeable … The app also allows you to do a whole bunch of other stuff, including browsing destination guides, trip-planning, booking flights, viewing flight maps and the ‘Glass Bottom Jet’ – “an amazing view of what you’re flying over through photos, landmark information and social content from your friends....

Target offers its branded REDcard to shoppers as a way to earn 5% off all purchases, as well as additional benefits like free shipping when buying online. The REDcard is offered in debit and credit forms, making it popular among people who regularly shop at Target. Instead of using Apple Pay, Target is encouraging REDcard shoppers to add their card to the Target app on iOS. This way, they can checkout, and redeem Cartwheel and coupon savings, all at once by scanning the barcode in the Wallet section the Target app....

Apple’s MacBook Pro gained a new feature with its last refresh, the Touch Bar. Since the announcement in October, third-party applications have slowly been gaining support for the capability and now one of the more popular apps, Google Chrome, is adding support for Touch Bar… Earlier today, Google quietly released the first canary build of Chrome 58. One thing quickly noted by MacBook Pro users was the added support for Touch Bar support, something that hasn’t been present in any version of Chrome released since the MacBook Pro was updated last fall....

Google is rolling out an updated version of its iOS app for iPhone and iPad today that brings a few new features including faster search results. Google says after clicking back in Chrome to return to a search results page results will now “instantly appear, ready for you to choose the next one.” The update also adds data cost savings features, rolling out to all users shortly, that provides a view of data savings in Bandwidth Management settings....

Star Wars: The Clone Wars season 7 is now underway on Disney+, but when will the next episode release on the streaming service? It’s been a long and arduous journey getting Clone Wars back onto the small screen. First beginning almost two decades ago with the traditional animated Clone Wars series on Cartoon Network, which was later followed up with an animated film and CGI animated series in 2008 (the one now continuing on Disney+), Clone Wars has gone through several hoops to get where it is now....

One of the more common requests for AirPods has been additional color options. Apple only offers them in the standard white option, but concepts have imagined AirPods in such colors as Jet Black. Now, popular aftermarket coloring service ColorWare has announced the ability to customize AirPods with 58 different color options… The company announced the support for AirPods customization today on Twitter, explaining that it was a difficult process. Following a soft launch in select markets, Comcast’s Xfinity Mobile unlimited wireless plans are now open to all users across the US. When it was first introduced in April, Comcast started by rolling it out to its Xfinity broadband service subscribers in select major markets including Philadelphia and Chicago, but today it confirmed it’s now available in all its markets across the US. The service automatically switches between 4G LTE (Verizon’s network) and the company’s 18 million Wi-Fi Hotspots, which it says allows for a superior experience for less compared to competitors due to limiting data usage and better speeds while on WiFi....

Apple’s announcement earlier this week that it plans to design its own GPUs for future iPhones and iPads did more than signal bad news for Imagination Technologies. It also added weight to the idea that Apple will at some point want to ditch Intel chips in Macs in favour of its own design of ARM-based CPUs. The arguments in favor of Apple designing its own Mac processors are exactly the same ones that led the company to design its own A-series chips for iOS devices....

Reported by The Wall Street Journal, the House Judiciary Committee requested that Apple and the other major tech companies involved in its antitrust investigation submit “documents including executive communications and financial statements as well as information about competitors, market share, mergers and key business decisions” by October 14th. Naturally, Apple’s CEO Tim Cook was named in the official request and it asks the company specifically for executives’ emails regarding the “App Store, including search results, and its decisions regarding the apps it provides to consumers by default....
