This morning, during his talk at the Goldman Sachs conference, Apple CEO Tim Cook discussed tablet market share, acquisitions, iPhone screen sizes, and much more. Another topic of conversation was retail, which Cook was very enthusiastic about. While noting that Apple Stores have become gathering places and play an important role in communities, Cook said he’s “not even sure store is the right word anymore.” He also explained that many Apple stores aren’t big enough and the company plans to move 20 retail locations into bigger spaces during 2013....

Reuters reported today that a U.S. Federal Circuit Court of Appeals in Washington rejected Apple’s attempt to get a sales ban on Samsung’s Galaxy Nexus. Apple asked the court to revisit a previous decision to reject the company’s request for the sales ban leading up to a full trial set for March 2014. The case involved patents not included in the California trial that awarded Apple a $1.05 billion verdict against Samsung....

A Chinese cyber researcher has told Reuters that he has canceled an upcoming appearance at the prestigious Black Hat Asia hacking conference at the request of his employer. Death Stranding is facing off against Control for even more awards, as they have both received the most nominations at the upcoming D.I.C.E Awards. Death Stranding received polarizing reviews from critics at launch, but it has been beating out much more acclaimed games for awards around the world. Christian Bale thinks Robert Pattinson will be an interesting Caped Crusader in Matt Reeves’ The Batman. Bale of course portrayed the character during The Dark Knight trilogy, and his rendition is considered the best live-action version by many. Disparate reports this morning shed a little more light on the Verizon iPhone deal we expect to hear about at 11am (Eastern). It seems the deal may cost Verzon as much as $5 billion in subsidies in year one — but is also set to steal share from AT&T while flatlining Android device sales. John Hodulik, an analyst at UBS AG told Business Week he thinks Verizon may sell 13 million iPhones with an estimated $400 subsidy this year — a total of $5....

Coming to America 2 has added another cast member from the original film, bringing back Shari Headley as Lisa McDowell. Released in 1988, Coming to America starred Eddie Murphy as African royal Prince Akeem who, together with his faithful companion Semmi (Arsenio Hall), escaped an arranged marriage and journeyed to Queens to live as a common man and find true love with a “simple” American girl. The film would prove to be another huge hit for the then-red-hot Murphy, grossing $128 million domestically ($280 million adjusted for inflation)....

The Clips app that Apple announced back in March and launched in April doesn’t exactly seem to have set the world on fire. Apple’s description made it seem simple and fun to use: The reviews, however, disagreed … It was described as confusing, complex and lacking a clear purpose.
