In response to a Bloomberg Businessweek story alleging Apple discovered Chinese spy chips in its servers, The Department of Homeland Security has issued a statement in which it sides with Apple. The DHS says it currently has “no reason to doubt” Apple’s denial. The Businessweek story was originally published on Thursday, and Apple immediately followed it up with a strong statement in which it denied the allegations. Apple’s denial of the story has been uncharacteristic for the company....

Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP) is reporting that Apple saw it’s U.S. mobile market share climb from 28% in March 2015 to 40% a year later. Samsung climbed one percentage point from 36% to 37% in the same period. The 40% number for current market share is bang in line with that reported by Park Associates back in February, but the year-ago 28% number seems a little more suspect. Park also put Samsung’s share at 31% while CIRP has the company at 37%....

CNN is blaming Apple for a bug that seemingly caused Apple News users to receive multiples of the same push notification for a CNN story. The story in question is a CNN report about the firing of the worker who triggered the false ballistic missile alert in Hawaii earlier this month. Apple News users with CNN as a source received the push notification for the story in inordinate amount of times for no apparent reason....

Some spy shots of upcoming Apple Watch bands by designer brand Coach leaked last month, but now the accessories are about to get official as Coach lists the products on its website. The source of the original leak shared a URL to a not yet public listing on Coach’s site today, and we discovered product pages for several other models being prepared. The pages aren’t yet searchable on the site, and most don’t have images, but it looks like Coach is preparing for an upcoming launch ahead of Apple’s WWDC event later this month....

Following Nielsen’s latest survey that showed over 90 percent of United States smartphone buyers are choosing iOS or Android, research firm comScore today released its data of the top smartphone platforms and OEMs in the U.S. The survey included more than 30,000 people over a three-month period ending February 2012. One of Netflix’s newest original movies, Dead Kids, is the platform’s first original release from the Philippines and centers around a fictionalized account of a real kidnapping that occurred in 2018. Dead Kids follows a group of outcast teenagers, ‘Dead Kids’, who conspire together to commit a kidnapping, hopeful that a large ransom for the crime will aid both their financial and social standing. The film’s director, Mikhail Red, is internationally known for his other films, Birdshot, Eerie, and Neomanila....
