Delays Supply Shortages Expected For Apple S Sept 28 Iphone 5 Rollout Too

Despite record sales of 5 million units for the iPhone 5’s debut weekend, Apple is apparently facing shortages that, according to analysts, kept the company from selling as many as 8 million to 10 million new iPhones at launch. According to reports from earlier today, Apple’s new in-cell display technology is likely to blame, with suppliers LG, Japan Display, and Sharp having difficulties meeting demand. Both retailers in the U.S. and Apple already confirmed that initial supplies are sold out, while pre-orders are being pushed to an unknown date in October....

Claimed Foxconn Leaked Screenshots Seemingly Confirm Earlier Iphone 6 Details In All Their Glory

French site iGen has posted what it claims are screenshots from Foxconn, which – if genuine – confirm a number of details from earlier reports, and to reveal the dimensions of prototypes of both iPhone 6 models. The screenshots appear to be fuller versions of the raised camera schematic posted by Apple Club Taiwan a couple of days ago. It should be noted that there is no way to know when these prototypes were created (though some photos appear to date back to February), and that dimensions of the production model could change....

Comment Can Apple Persuade A Long Time Wired Headphone Guy To Go Wireless

I’m personally still very happy with my ultra-pocketable iPhone SE so I have no plans to buy the iPhone 7, but with Apple touting a brave new wireless future, I thought the launch would make an opportune moment to decide whether or not it was time for me to make the switch from a wired world. Those who know me are often surprised to find that I wasn’t one of the first to switch to wireless headphones....

Comment Going From A Skeptic To An Every Day User With Apple Watch Series 2

Following the release of the Apple Watch Series 2, I wrote about my initial first impressions of the device. Essentially, I explained that the first-generation Apple Watch had never truly won me over. I often went through phases where I would wear it for a while, but then go weeks without even charging it. I noted, however, that the Series 2 model may have righted enough wrongs to keep it on my wrist…consistently....

Comment Seven Years On From Steve Jobs Thoughts On Flash It S Time For This Protocol To Die

These reasons were, in brief: It’s a proprietary product, and Apple prefers open web standards [sometimes] An increasing number of websites are switching to better video formats Flash has poor security, reliability and performance Flash decreases battery life Flash was designed for desktop, not touch It’s an additional layer that holds back innovation Most of those reasons are just as valid today, security not least among them …...

Comment Why Does A Company With Apple S Environmental Credentials Sell Applecare As 92 Pages Of Paper

I noted a few weeks ago that, given the ultra-low repairability of the new MacBook Pro, I was buying AppleCare for the first time. Pretty much anything going wrong with the machine – RAM, SSD, Touch Bar, even the power switch – is likely to require a whole new motherboard. And given that the screen is bonded into the lid of the case, we can also forget about repairing that....

Covering A Spacex Rocket Launch From Nasa S Kennedy Space Center With The Iphone 11 Pro Max

NASA Social hosted the event that included close-up access to NASA’s massive Vehicle Assembly Building, the historic 39B launch pad, and an awesome view of a Falcon 9 rocket launch. Below are some of my favorite shots captured on the iPhone 11 Pro Max. Some of these required the new ultra-wide camera to fully capture the scene....

Covid 19 Let S Not Let The Hopeful News Get Lost Part Two

There is an astonishing sea change beginning I think in how we all interact. Now, I’m not pretending to be an expert in social psychology. But it is clear that despite all the glitches there is an unprecedented level of global cooperation going on. Usually, wars have two human sides. In this one, there is all humanity versus a virus. So, I’ll say it again: Unprecedented. I’m going to institute some regular features and some random things every week....

D D Alignments Of Dragonball Z Characters

Dragon Ball Z always seemed strict with the alignments of their characters. Always black and white, good guy versus bad guys, or simply The Z Fighters versus those looking to destroy the world. If you’re a part of the team you immediately adjust to be a good guy and follow Goku’s lead. However, it’s not always that simple, when character personalities aren’t getting nixed for the greater good you can find gray areas of alignments in Dragon Ball Z....

Dark Fate Admitted Terminator S Biggest Secret John Connor Wasn T The Hero

Terminator: Dark Fate finally admitted the biggest secret of the entire Terminator franchise: that John Connor isn’t the real hero; Sarah is. 2019’s Terminator: Dark Fate was more or less a hard reset for the franchise. It writes off a good portion of the films in the series while making a few much needed retcons in the name of continuity. None appear more controversial to die-hard fans than the changes made to John Connor and his relevancy to the story, which for this film were tossed by the wayside....
